Lincoln Memorial University, a school just down the road from where I grew up, has experienced tremendous growth in the 17 years since I left home.

They are now offering an Ed.D. and have an interesting statement on the landing page regarding the GRE requirement. I've never quite seen something like this articulated for any other program.

Graduate Record Examination (GRE). In order to protect investments of time and money that are made by both parties, candidates are required to submit GRE scores. Performance scores in verbal and quantitative reasoning as well as that in analytical writing provide predictive data that can be used by applicants as well as the Selection Committee, to determine the probability of a successful program completion.

It will reduce the attrition rate, starting at the beginning (large funnel intake), instead of attrition happening at the end of the program in the dissertation (small funnel outtake).
