I've read of and watched video of others who have done this, and I have the same exact question. This is the first example I'm aware of where there were negative consequences, other than it hurting like heck and it looking terrible. Very sad that she's done what is irreversible damage to herself all for a bit of vanity. At the top of the page, the article embeds a video of someone with a live worm burrowing in his eyeball. It's a separate story entirely, but it is an absolutely horrific thing to watch. I'm so disturbed, I'm actually in squeamish tears right now... wow... I wish I had never seen that.
