    When I completed a BA the only research done was at the library.

    If one wants to learn how to use original documentation in their research, try genealogy. Lessons learned will be extremely valuable in other fields.

    Because one is constantly hitting dead ends, one has to be very selective in drawing conclusions. There is a wealth of information packed away in archives, churches and government offices that relate to ancestors. There is also much information on almost any topic, there for the finding.

    Western Europeans and Americans were serious packrats and studying your own roots is a way to gain confidence in original research.
