"In light of the petition and protests on social media, Ghana’s government wants to relocate the statue “to ensure its safety and to avoid the controversy,” " I think it's important to note that, much like here in America, it's not the racists who pose the safety threat in question, but the misinformed and self-righteous. Since I don't know anything about the social landscape of Ghana, I can't draw further comparisons, but here in America there are so few actual full blown racists that their voice is but a whimper and their threat way overstated. The change might not be 100% complete, and maybe it never will be, but I for one am happy to celebrate the progress! :veryhappy: However, we now also have millions of people who don't realize how powerless and irrelevant racists are and will stop at nothing to completely obliterate a next-to imaginary threat, rather than working towards meaningful, rational social progress. I, for one, am scared at what this will lead to.
