    Human Computation Network

If you get a chance, try to watch the National Geographic special on the search for the tomb of Genghis Khan. It's interesting history and a fantastic example of high tech archeology, including the use of the human computation network. I think that people, with a little training, can participate in such projects. It's a way to be involved in some interesting research and probably more fun than binge watching Game of Thrones (again).

Mongolia and New Zealand are two of my favourite countries. Like New Zealand, Mongolia has 'way more sheep than people. I think the population of each of those countries is about 3 1/2 million. I guess a lot of foreigners have been eyeing Mongolia - or more than just looking. In the past, real estate bargains could be had -- but a sustained buying surge has meant there are pretty well none left. Prices have skyrocketed.

Mongolia has a really cool alphabet. It was based on the Sogdian alphabet (that's a Persian variant IIRC) and learned from one captured Uighur scribe, back in the days of the Khans. For around 75 years, it was dropped in favour of a modified Russian one, but since the Soviet breakup, the old one is coming back in style. Here it is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mongolian_script

Only thing I don't like about Mongolia - high plague season: July & Aug. I think I've heard Southwest US - NM and/or AZ may have the same problem in some areas, perhaps to a lesser degree.
