In the photos I've seen of different comic-cons there are a lot of Star Wars costumes. Han Solo is a pretty easy costume to throw together and the Storm Trooper uniforms can be purchased without much trouble. I'd guess that there will be a lot of Wonder Women this year. In that case, where there's multiple examples, you get lots of points for precision - getting the costume to be an exact replica. It also helps if the woman wearing the costume has some resemblance to Gal Godot (or Lynda Carter). Some of the costume makers are amateurs trying to break into the business. Some are professionals and they hire models to wear the costumes, pose for photos, and hand out business cards. With it's proximity to Hollywood you'll see a lot of professionals showing off their work. That's why it'll be well-attended.

I have a friend who is into cosplay. He has an original storm trooper (i think from the movie set)! He is trying to sell it! I know a lot of people who are in to cosplay.
