The trial starts next week. What will be different? A new jury and new witnesses. Plus the social environment has changed re these sorts of charges since the whole Weinstein et al cascade of accusations/lawsuits/firings, etc. My prediction? The Coz is going to jail for at least a few years. https://www.npr.org/2018/04/03/597984025/the-cosby-trial-what-you-need-to-know
The trial is almost over https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/celebrity/cosby-opts-not-to-testify-as-defense-rests-case/ar-AAwfjyg?ocid=spartandhp
Speaking of not finishing, he claims to not like intercourse: https://pagesix.com/2018/04/17/why-cosby-says-he-didnt-have-sex-with-andrea-constand/
After all this time, I'm still on the fence about who to believe. Would every single one of those women lie? Well, it's not unprecedented, and there are big holes to poke in every single one of their stories. Still, that doesn't mean that at least some of them aren't telling some part the truth, and Cosby has already admitted to having sexually loose behavior involving illicit drug use. At best, he's a sexual deviant with a possessive/objectifying attitude towards women, who manipulated his way into getting a doctorate degree and was wrongly considered to be a celebrity role model for much of his life. At worst, he's a rapist, which is many times greater of an atrocity than even the aforementioned.
Over 10 years ago, Cosby paid $3.4 million for his accuser Andrea Constand's silence. Looks like he didn't get what he paid for - any more than Donald Trump did, for a mere $130,000. I note Cosby's lawyers are Tom Mesereau and Kathleen Bliss. Tom Mesereau successfully defended Michael Jackson against child-molestation charges in 2005. I could be wrong - but whatever one thinks of Cosby as a person, I think I know how this is going to end. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/bill-cosby-trial-in-closing-defense-calls-accuser-pathological-liar/
Yep - some minutes ago. I got here 8 minutes late. Kizmet was on the ball. I was SO wrong! But I can't say I'm sorry -- nope. Not one bit. He can be sentenced for up to 10 years for each of four counts, so I'm told. He's 80 - so does it really matter how much time he gets? Symbolically, yes, I guess.
He's been looking very frail for years now. I didn't expect he'd live long enough to even see a verdict. In turn, I don't expect he'll live long enough to see the result of the inevitable appeal. He doesn't have much life left to spend in prison, but he'll leave this world knowing that this is how he'll always be remembered.
He has lots of money so whatever time he spends behind bars will be “easy time.” Despite that he’ll likely die behind bars.
Or - very likely - before he even gets there. Still, I hope he fully realizes what's happening and why. Anything less lets him off far too easily. He's obviously in decline. Definitely a comedian who can't finish a sentence.
And they'd better hurry up with the trial(s) of Harvey Weinstein. Seen a picture of him lately? Not lookin' very healthy, to say the least...
I'm no lawyer but I'm assuming there will be an appeal and who knows how long that will take? Sometimes people have to go to jail pending the appeal but he's got enough money that he'll probably get bailed out. Maybe house arrest pending appeal? I don't know what to expect in that regard.
