I'm sorry, but The World Happiness Report is total BS. They basically equate government welfare systems with happiness. And as a result Scandinavian countries rank highly even though they also have high suicide rates. Some happiness that is.

People in those countries are much happier because they don't have to worry about stuff like this:

Medical bills prompt more than 60 percent of U.S. bankruptcies - CNN.com

Hell, Joe Biden was going to sell his house to pay for his sons cancer medical bills, the ex VP! Luckily, President Obama told him not to do that and paid all the bills. I think our system is disgraceful. So whatever you do, don't commit the sin of getting something like Cancer or you'll be screwed.

I'm not saying that's awesome, I'm saying that the correlation with overall happiness is specious at best. If getting free shit from the government were really the same thing as happiness, the Soviet Union would have been paradise.

A lot of white majority countries on top of that list too. What to make of that. Magic Dirt?

And Steve is right, the "criteria" for selection are a little suspect. And I think our perception of Scandinavian country suicide rates are a bit off too however.

Hopefully they don't peruse the political section of this forum because it will make it look like everyone is "pissed off and unhappy." LOL

Well, I know you were making a joke, but I have to say that the most political people I see on social media also seem to be awfully unhappy. So maybe there's something to that.

I don't even do social media of any kind. The less information out there about me the better. If you do an internet search on people's email addresses, it's incredible just how much information can be collected from sources like social media and others. No thanks! Too many weirdos out there.
