    Interesting, indeed. It doesn't appear as if much has changed, however, since the "incompetent rich and powerful" still manage to "get through".

    Yes, you can get that degree for $99! But I was referring to the likes of JFK, Jr. getting through Brown and then getting a law degree from NYU, Dubya getting through Yale and then getting an MBA from Harvard, et al..........

    I tlooks like the "class ring" thread could be updated as its history goes back to medieval times.

    According to Lawrence Stone. 1979. (The Family Sex and Marriage in England 1500-1800) Pengiun Books.

    I quote;

    "In the Middle Ages .......... at Oxford University the conferring of the degree of Master of Grammar was accompanied by the presentation of a birch as a symbol of office and by the ceremonial flogging of a whipping-boy by the new Master."

    Some things have changed after all.
