'That is just wrong': Toronto TV host under fire for suggesting Indian female students are promiscuous

A popular Toronto-based Punjabi television host has sparked outrage and a social media backlash after suggesting female international students from India are lazy and promiscuous home wreckers and are coming to Canada just to find men and get married.

Joginder Bassi, host of the Gaunda Punjab Radio and TV show, has been the target of intense criticism after he made the comments on his weekend television show last month.

"You're targeting a whole community and you're saying negative things about them and that's so sad," said Harjot Mannan, a 23-year-old from the Indian state of Punjab who studies at Toronto's Centennial College.

Maybe they should be restricted to distance learning.

This could as well go in Political Discussions. Is it okay in Canada to insult your own?

Huh? Unless Canada is very different from the U.S., Indian women are noticeably more demure than average, not more promiscuous.

Haha you did the same thing but in opposite of him (Joking). I think they are just like any other women, some will seek things others will not. I lived in an apartment complex as a young teenager and 20 something that was heavily populated by Indians. I had no trouble with the ladies, my best friend dated a Indian girl for many years much to the rage of her parents as he was white. Most of the girls seemed to rebel against their parents as they would tell me they were pressured to marry certain people, not arranged but pressured.

Given that I never said there was anything wrong with promiscuity, it wasn't a judgment one way or the other.

I'm not talking about children of immigrants, I'm talking about immigrants. Sure, there are outliers, and one should always deal with people as the individuals they are with all the variety that entails, but wouldn't you agree that culture affects what many people will do?

You implied they were less than promiscuous as I jokingly pointed out. The girls I were talking about were not born here in the US.
