DETC-accredited schools may get .edu domain names

  1. Educause Considers Letting More Colleges Use '.Edu' Addresses.

    Snippet:
    • Educause, an education-technology group that is also in charge of assigning ".edu" Internet addresses, is considering a proposal to allow any higher-education institution that is accredited by any board recognized by the Department of Education to receive a ".edu" address.
    (Of course, many DETC-accredited schools such as ISIM were grandfathered, so this will apply to new schools.)

    I wonder how proactive Educause will be about taking back .edu domains from less-than-wonderful schools not accredited by an recognized board.

    is it just a move

    I wonder if this is a step to having detc accreditation better recongized? or just a move?
