My pharmacy has one day per month when people can drop off their old, unwanted meds and the pharmacy disposes of them in whatever safe, legal manner is required. I've never done it but I see the sign every time I'm in the store.

I have coverage with a major health provider. I guess i just missed their once a year old med "turn in" program. Nobody else is doing anything like that right now in my area. I guess i am just going to scratch out the rx#, fill the bottles with water, box them up and throw them away. Seems ridiculous to me!

Many hospitals will take these...and any sharps you may have like insulin needles. It's done as a "community service".
