Trump's 'Pocahontas' Attack Rooted in Warren Heritage Issue - ABC News

"She's as Native American as I am," the New York businessman and presumptive Republican presidential nominee said. At rallies, some Trump supporters have mimicked B-movie versions of a Native American war cry to mock Warren, an oft-mentioned possible running mate for Hillary Clinton."

Brown pressed her to release more information about how she described her heritage to potential employers. He began one debate by saying Warren "checked the box claiming she is Native American, and clearly she is not."

Warren acknowledged telling Harvard and her previous employer, the University of Pennsylvania, of her Native American heritage, but only after she had been hired by both schools.

"I didn't check a box to go to college. I didn't check a box to go to law school," she said. "The only box I checked was in a directory. I didn't do this to get a job."

"Harvard Law School professor Charles Fried, who helped recruit Warren to Harvard, has said any suggestion she enjoyed an affirmative action benefit is "complete nonsense." He said she was recruited because of her work in bankruptcy and commercial law."

The whole thing seems silly to me. Warren is a very adept attack dog, and calling her Pocahontas won't make her cry or anything.

**Of note - I have seen native Americans that look like "White" people. Not all Native Americans look exactly the same, humans being humans and all.

I'll just leave this here, without comment, and just ask; is that how someone acts who has nothing to hide?

You might be right about Warren. Of course, you could say the same thing about Trump and his tax returns. All these politicians have skeletons they'd prefer stay hidden.

The heck??? This is the first I've heard of the issue and I was prepared to roll my eyes and chalk it up to stupid political mudslinging, until I saw that video. What in the world is she hiding? Sheesh.

I don't know. When the video was shot, Warren was very skittish over the whole issue. But once she got her talking points down, she saw there is nothing to hide. She is certainly not trying to hide anything now. She listed herself as part American Indian in some social thing, but never on a college or job application. I see nothing wrong with what she did, and she has nothing to hide. A lot of native American people rely on oral traditions regarding racial matters, and her relatives told her she was part Indian, which is very common.

She is going to come out swinging. She is very good at what she does. I still remember that idiots from the Brown team going around making indian noises with their hands and mouth, looked like a bunch of nut jobs.

I am glad to see that kind of stuff just isn't going to fly.

If reading prepared remarks, yelling, and constantly saying "people are getting hammered" is what she does, then she's great at it. When she has to respond to non-softball questions, she's like every other bully, she folds like a house of cards. "Deer in the headlights" doesn't even begin to describe what she looked like during the Senate debates.
