What did people think would happen? At least 10 people injured at California rally, authorities say - CNN.com Does it matter who started what? I will repeat, trying to seize on racial tensions for political gain is a very risky and dangerous proposition.
I would like to dedicate this song to the type of fellas like that dude mentioned in the CNN article wearing the red base ball cap (Mathew Heimback). I am not talking about some guy who just reads a copy of Mein Kampf and thinks it's an interesting read either. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxd8ml-n5NE Ouch, no I didn't. Oops, yes I did. A blast from the eighties.
So Nazis were beat up by By Any Means, for being intolerant Nazis... Anyone wonder why many are just looking for a few acres of land, away from civilization?
Not me, I am fine right were I am. I get a suburban feel, with just enough wild life around me. I got plenty of these: https://www.google.com/search?q=white+birds+that+resemble+white+cranes&rlz=1C1NHXL_enUS689US689&espv=2&biw=1366&bih=643&tbm=isch&imgil=sf3NAG4jBGwXsM%253A%253Bg6j_364OZ4m08M%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Ffloridasnature.com%25252Fflorida%2525252520birds.htm&source=iu&pf=m&fir=sf3NAG4jBGwXsM%253A%252Cg6j_364OZ4m08M%252C_&usg=__R7TYIMAMP8C5Loq2rp5y7tkb7Xs%3D&ved=0ahUKEwi-_9mQo8jNAhUJ8GMKHV4rBGcQyjcIQw&ei=8yRxV_65JongjwPe1pC4Bg#imgrc=sf3NAG4jBGwXsM%3A Plus, coyotes, racoons, jack rabbits, fish, hawks, eagles (I think) and all kinds of neat stuff around me. I even saw a white Heron eating a lizard last week! I had no idea they ate lizards. I even have a bird sanctuary behind my house, along with nifty horse trails. I have it all. I could swear I saw a wolf, but then again, it could have been a wolf dog that got loose.
I am looking for a human sanctuary, where the trail is for humans. As in, less human... Prefer no human. :bandit:
You got a lot of them out there? We had a few where I live. They had parades and were generally ignored and marginalized. Eventually they fractured and the group, less than a hundred, moved on to PA and then another group formed in one of the Carolina's I think. Anyway, our local advocacy groups would show up and heckle the Aryan Nation parade (which at most had about 200 people in it). Finally these local groups just ignored them, why mobilize a bunch of people to protest a few? It worked...they're gone now. I'm not sure direct confrontation works. Remember what is said to those that want to confront and fight Islam. It just encourages more people to the wrong cause, Jihad or in this case KKK/Aryan Nation/White Power or whatever these tiny groups of disparate people are calling themselves.
There seems to be quite a few, but I honestly don't keep track. I agree with you one this one. Let em say what they have to say. To me, they just end up looking like buffoon's anyway.
Actually, I believe that was an obvious solution. At least it was to ban certain types of knives. It's the reason I can't carry a switchblade.
There are lots of laws regarding knives, making them a very well-regulated weapon--and one that doesn't lead to mass murder. So I appreciate your allusion to the same for guns and appreciate your support.
You can if you have a hunting/fishing license, IIRC. Probably have to be in the act of hunting or fishing for it to be valid though...
The Blues Brothers knew how to handle neo-Nazis. "It's got a cop motor, a four hundred and forty cubic inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters, so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say? Is it the new Bluesmobile or what?" -- Elwood Blues
Depends on your state and, in the case of NYC, context. Upstate it is fairly easy to say "I am going hunting." We have plenty of places for it. We're surrounded by gorgeous natural beauty. You have to have a hunting/fishing license at the time of carry. If you're in NYC you're going to have a very difficult time saying that you're carrying it lawfully for hunting/fishing. Switchblades are, in some places, banned outright. In other places they are simply restricted. Their historical use in violent crimes shaped these laws. And society responded, not be banning all knives, but by banning or restricting the possession and use of those specific types of knives that were used most often in crime. Since no one is advocating for a ban on guns only restrictions or prohibitions on specific types of guns my point, in response to Bruce's statement, stands.
The only knives that are illegal in these parts are switchblades/stilettos, and double-edged. Other than that, you can walk around carrying a machete if you want. I wouldn't recommend it, but it's certainly legal.
I own a switchblade. I don't carry it. I saw it at a flea market buried in a box and got it cheap. But it isn't an item you find frequently in stores because of the restrictions. My understanding is that the switchblade was once the weapon of choice for street gangs. Mostly outlawed it has largely disappeared from the public eye. There are plenty of other knives that can be used to hurt someone. The knife I do routinely carry is a small pocket knife (Swiss army style). That could hurt someone, for sure. But it also has other uses built into it. A machete can certainly be deadly. But it can also be incredibly useful for clearing brush. Switchblades don't offer much utility beyond being handy to stab people with. I've never met anyone who carries a switchblade for hunting or fishing and I cannot imagine how they would offer any advantage over a fixed blade for those purposes. Knives designed with multiple uses are not regulated as tightly as knives designed only to kill. My biggest concern with so-called "assault weapons" isn't their style. It's magazine capacity coupled with many resources readily available to convert them to full automatics in the comfort of your own home. I used to own an M-4. I bought it fresh out of the Navy when I was still feeling nostalgic for the rare occasions when I got to use an M-16. In the Navy it sort of made sense. I could, theoretically, be asked to stand armed guard (it happened exactly once in four years). A guy with an M-16 could be the difference between a peaceful night and another USS Cole. When I bought my M4 the guy at the gun store tried very hard to get me to drop $4k on his Barrett .50 bolt action rifle. He let me shoot it. I was tempted. But I passed. The only thing I ever would have used that Barrett for, as I did with my M4, was target practice. Neither weapon is practical for home defense. In either case the round would pass clean through any intruder and potentially kill my neighbor. These couldn't be used for hunting. The Barrett wouldn't leave very much of a deer after a well placed kill shot. Those two weapons aren't made for home defense, concealed carry, or hunting. They're designed for killing people with extreme efficiency. Our best hope is that a person buys them only to play around at the range. I don't expect to change your mind. But consider that it would probably be a bad idea if I could walk into any store and buy an actual police badge. The majority of buyers might only collect them and put them on display. But the people who misused them would cause a lot of hurt. I support gun ownership. But we already restrict full auto weapons. I imagine the frequency of their use in gang violence during prohibition didn't help that cause. Restricting other types of weapon isn't the same thing as banning all firearms.
