I was talking to a guy who had what appeared to be some type of mental incapacity. Anyway, as we were talking, I learned that he a was cribbage champion. I had never even heard of cribbage prior to speaking with him. He explained the game to me, but it flew over my head. Apparently, this guys travels from State to State to compete in tournaments. Does anyone here play cribbage?

    Just curious.

Yeah it's a fun game. All the relatives on my dad's side of the family played cribbage and pinochle. I never get the chance to play pinochle, but I've taught cribbage to my kids and play it on my phone. It rewards attention to detail and strategy. I don't fly around playing in tournaments however...

When my daughter was a hospice volunteer, she had a client who demanded to play cribbage with her hours a day. You're only supposed to be admitted to hospice if your prognosis is for six months or less. This woman, at 89, had been there over a year, bellowing "Muggins!" night and day. (That's when you capture points that your opponent overlooked.) The evidence is clear: cribbage extends life.
