Bruce: "...I didn't think he was still alive."

This got me thinking, and doing a bit of browsing. Here's a short list of people I rarely think about, but if asked, would have sort of assumed were no longer with us. (On the other hand, I was sure that folks like George and Barbara Bush, Jimmy Carter, Hugh Hefner, Billy Graham, and QE2 are all doing fine in their 90s):

    Dick VanDyke (90)
    Kirk Douglas (99)
    'Doris Day (90)'
    Angela Lansbury (90)
    Jerry Lewis (89)
    Olivia deHavilland (99)
    "Professor" Irwin Corey (101)
    Ed Asner (86)
    Monty Hall (94)
    Bob Barker (92)
    Chuck Berry (89)
    Harry Belafonte (89)
    Gina Lollabrigida (88)
    Don Rickles (90)

PS: Alan Young will also live forever as the cartoon voice of Scrooge McDuck.

Howie Carr, a local FM radio talk show host, always has a celebrity death pool running. Whenever someone famous on the list dies, the winner gets a prize (usually a restaurant gift card) and people call in with their new picks. I won with Dolores Hope (Bob's wife) when she passed on at age 102 about 5 years ago.
