Hmm, I don't know if the video was staged or not, but the info. is still pertinent:

Watching a woman scream at a food stamps-using family is downright painful

"Unfair and disturbing, but even more disturbing than this woman's outburst is that sitting in the man’s grocery store cart, holding a box of Kix cereal, was a small boy."

"I don’t care what that man bought, no one should talk to a parent that way in front of their young, impressionable children, especially a parent who is doing everything he can to provide for his family."

"If the woman were as smart as she claims in the video, maybe she'd know that $1 of every $5 spent to purchase items on food stamps is spent at Walmart. And that because of Walmart’s low wages, even full-time employees often still qualify for benefits. She would know that the amount of taxes coming out of her paycheck specifically for the food program amount to only about 10 cents a day ($36.50 a year)."

If this video is real, I find it very ironic. As the article says, many Walmart employees collect some type of assistance. Heck, Walmart HR hands out the forms during the hiring process. I am not saying there is anything wrong with this, just that it makes this ironic.

Wal-Mart makes about $5 billion that way, plus what it saves not paying some its workers a living wage.

There is, however, some question about the veracity of the video, that it might have been staged. But the point about Wal-Mart is still valid.

I believe this commonly happens in a number of occupations. About 5 years ago, I read about low wages paid to qualified airline pilots by some small regional carriers. At the time, some licensed pilots were reportedly receiving less than $15,000 a year! Some others - not much better - e.g. $18,000. Most had to pay uniform deductions etc., even out of extremely small salaries. At least the "uniform" is free at Walmart! One newly-hired pilot had 4 or 5 kids and his low salary qualified him for food stamps. The airline told him he'd be fired if he applied for them. Maybe he'd have done better at Walmart!

Pilots are like baseball players. The few at the top (the commercial airlines) get paid very well, everyone else scrounges.

Airlines are horrible. Not only is there a lack of competition in the industry--profits are up as a result--they treat their customers AND their employees badly. For example, the flight crew isn't "on the clock" until the plane pulls away from the gate. If they're delayed at the gate, they're working and not getting paid. This is just one example of wage theft the airlines commit--all while squeezing you into tighter and tighter spaces for more and more money. Why? Because they can.

Exactly! Simple. In my humble opinion, maybe people should start advocating for better wages for all. It's been a buyers market for employers a very, very long time now.

    Just sayin

I think this particular video is fake, but just as the left has its obnoxious fringe, so too are there a few conservatives who make remarks like this. Disregard/mock them and move on, I suppose.

I have a pretty thick skin, but I really don't want to watch the video. The description alone makes me want to cry and I really hope that Steve's suspicion is correct. Unfortunately, even if it is, there is most certainly some other jerkwad out there who has done or would not hesitate to do that for real.

    People suck.
