Rich, You have to be feeling pretty good about this (at least a little bit, right?). British soccer team Leicester celebrates 5,000-1 title success | Reuters It's quite an amazing accomplishment considering the depths at which the team toiled for decades.
I've been following it for a lot of the year. I didn't realize at first that they were nearly regulated (Sent down to the next lower league) last year, but I knew that the league was dominated by only a few teams, so I never paid much attention. I've been to the stadium and shopped there, but I never got to see a game. It was pretty cool to see people partying in places I've been in Leicester. Leicester has never won the Premier League. Their best finish was 2nd back in the 1920s. This is a beautiful thing. Now, how about those Leicester Tigers? I'm a lifelong Arsenal fan and not very happy about my team's rather underwhelming season but I've really enjoyed watching Leicester play this year. They've been great and although it's probably one of the most sensational wins in British football history, they fully deserve it. Just before the season started, a Manchester City player claimed Man C were capable of winning everything for years to come but this only goes to show that a squad worth billions is sometimes not enough to win the title: a good manager, good defending, a few players rejected by other clubs and some really dedicated fans can do the trick.
