    So much for JJ:

Drone strike turned Jihadi John into ‘greasy spot on the ground’ | New York Post

“We found him when he was talking on the cell phone. And when it was all over, he was a greasy spot on the ground,” Warren told The Daily Mail".

"Officials elevated Jihadi John to a “terrorist celebrity” after he beheaded numerous hostages including Americans James Foley and Steven Sotloff".

“That is why we put special effort to get him,” Warren said. “We put the same amount of attention we give to senior leaders, but only because of his celebrity status.”

Without a declaration of war. Without due process. But, apparently, with lethal precision.

Without a declaration of war, people like this are civilian accused criminals. That should mean due process and protection of rights for the accused, no matter how awful we thing they are or they've behaved.

In times of war--declared war--soldiers on one side can unilaterally kill identified soldiers on the other side, but they must ensure the target isn't an hor's de combat. (We were at war with Germany in WWII, but we couldn't kill non-combatants like civilians, POWs, aviators parachuting from disabled aircraft, etc. It was a war crime.)

I'm all in favor of getting rid of ISIS. But where's the declaration of war? Since when do we get to kill people without due process of law or a declaration of war? This guy might have been a murderer, but who are we to execute him without due process, or to declare war on his organization and give him/them a chance to surrender?

We've really lost our way, and it's truly hurting our standing in the ME. We come off as hegemonous imperialists and then wonder why they hate us.

The United States hasn't officially declared war since WWII, but there obviously have been plenty of hostile actions fought by US forces since then.

The problem is that this President basically wipes his ass with the Constitution, Federal law, and anything else he finds inconvenient and/or not to his liking, while Congress has the backbone of warm Jello. They could stop him tomorrow, or at least force a Constitutional showdown that he would be sure to lose, by invoking the War Powers Resolution and pushing it all the way to the SCOTUS. Unfortunately, the "leadership" of Congress can't seem to accomplish anything other than mobilize against Donald Trump, which they seemed to do in record time.

Darn it! I forgot that it's always Obama's fault!

I believe I spread the blame equally among the President and Congress, I'm disgusted with both.

However, the President is the Commander-In-Chief. He can stop military operations in the blink of an eye.
