Just received this in my email:

This email is a test of the XXXXXXXX College Safety Alert System for an Active Shooter Drill. At approximately 10 a.m. on April 14, XXXXXX College is initiating an Active Shooter Drill. Anyone on campus is asked to lock down/shelter-in-place and watch a 20-minute video called “Shots Fired on Campus.” The video will begin streaming at 10:10 a.m. and can be viewed from campus computers at http XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.

Students and staff who are not near an office or classroom, can lock down and view the video in the North Gym or in Building 200, Rooms 224-228.

For more information, visit XXXXXXX College’s website.

I work for the DoD. We have the FPS come in with shotguns (blank rounds) and go through active shooter drills too. Run, hide, fight.

    Interesting training.

Last time "someone" hogtied the guy up. "Someone" got reprimanded that "someone" did not follow the script.

I wasn't there for the drill, but they made a very deal of it. They not only emailed students, but they called us as well. They called my land line and my cell phone. Geez.

Yeah, the concept of run, hide, fight is kind of interesting. My government employer coordinates with the CHP, and we have our own internal investigative branch (peace officers). Every once in a while, you got some nut job that decides he hates the government, and decides to shoot (or one coworker got beat with a hammer) someone like Abner, a cop or an innocent government janitor. Strange. Management, at least at the local level, talk a good talk, but I have my doubts. Sometimes, when a threat of violence/violence occurs at a worksite throughout California, local management decides to try to keep it in house. They do not inform investigations, nor do they inform the Director or union management, as per our contract agreement. Since I am a non union paid Job Stewart, I make sure all such incidents are reported, investigated and documented in the proper manner/channels. You can't be to safe. I don't mind being a thorn in someone's side.

For the record, I used myself as an example, I didn't get shot. :) Poor wording on my part.

Next time use those handy plastic hand cuffs the cops use. It will save you a little time.
