I think that the negative critics are largely just ignorant people. If a 9 year old designs an app and makes a million bucks people go crazy. If a 9 year old starts a newspaper and starts covering real news then it's, apparently, a loss of childhood. I also feel that a lot of these criticisms are due, in part, to her gender more than her age. Because it doesn't just sound like she covered a murder story. It sounds like she covered a murder story well. I hope she doesn't get discouraged. There are a lot of people who get degrees in journalism and then fall away when they find out it isn't like whatever TV show/movie led them there. This girl seems to have the chops for it. Add a journalism degree and about 13 years to her and I think she'll be a force to reckon with in the job market.
