Not only do they have one, but the lead singer (and former airline pilot), Bruce Dickinson, is the pilot.

I also liked/like Maiden, Metallica or such cross over bands like Motorhead (a sort of punk/rock and roll combo). In the late 70's I gravitated towards extremely fast rapid fire energetic British and American hardcore punk rock music. I would go to gigs (as we called them then) and saw bands like GBH, UK Subs and American punk bands like The Ramones, The Dead Kennedys (sorry, I know the name may be offensive to some), Circle Jerks, Fear, etc. I also enjoyed slam dancing (The National Enquired called it "The dance of death", quite shocking at the time. :) and stage diving. Later, rock bands would adopt similar things like mosh pits.

Jello Biafra, the Lead singer of the Dead Kennedys, also dabbled in politics and is quite an interesting droog. Description below:

"Politically, Biafra is a member of the Green Party of the United States[1] and actively supports various political causes. He ran for the party's Presidential nomination in 2000, finishing second to Ralph Nader.[2] He is a staunch believer in a free society, who utilizes shock value and advocates direct action and pranksterism in the name of political causes.[1] Biafra is known to use absurdist media tactics, in the leftist tradition of the Yippies, to highlight issues of civil rights and social justice". I think he may even have a PhD.

Here he is discussing music censorship with Tipper Gore:

Does Bruce really have a PhD in music?

If you like that sort of culture jamming, then you would enjoy a movie called The Yes Men.

Indeed, although I still think nothing beats the badassery of Iron Maiden flying it themselves.

Yeah, that is true. A lot of these guys tend to be highly educated and well rounded. I also like the fact the pilot Bruce is an expert in fencing. That is really cool.
