So I went down to the local CC bookstore and picked up a schedule. I am trying to decide between a cardio class or boxing. My work outs have become a bit stagnant and I am looking for more of a group setting with a set schedule.

I have to go back on Monday and fill out some matriculation paper work. I have a degree from the sister school so it should be a little easier. Then I will have to buy a parking permit. Just like the good old days.

I first went to CC so long ago (1978) that parking was FREE. At least in the one lot, for evenings. Not now. Around 1986, they paved it...

Presumably the latter begins on December 26th.

Yeah, before my time, CC used to be free as well. At least here in Cali. Of course, now the CC I attended has been transformed in to a huge campus with all the niceties of a major University. I believe they are slated to start offering 4 year degrees in the future.

Ding ding!!! Let the fight begin! I am thinking it would be wiser to start with the for one semester, then work my way up to boxing. I don't want to get to many blacks eyes.

Mine too...both of them! And nowadays, parking costs more than I paid in tuition! And as for the university -- last time I looked, I believe the parking lots all had loans officers in attendance!

I never paid for parking. College #1 had the one free lot in the middle of nowhere. College #2 - you couldn't park on the side streets, but mall parking half a mile away was OK till 10 pm. University - you could park on side streets in the evening only and walk half a mile, so I was OK.

The present cost per unit is $46.00. Plus, I am going to buy a parking permit for $35.00 so I don't have to hassle with parking.

Abner, as a fellow martial artist I recommend going to an all purpose MMA gym. Especially for cardio. We have one here in town that is $20 a month. One and a half hour classes twice a week. And it kicks your ass! Especially the ground fighting when you roll with people at full speed and they're resisting. Whew. They would appreciate your perspective on fighting that you learned in your previous training. For me, being a Judoka, they already have good throws down and the ground fighting is more advanced than the Ne Waza I practiced so learning a lot and really, and I mean REALLY getting a good workout!

No black eyes for me, yet. Just a broken pinkie toe...again...

That is a very good suggestion. I have a friend that runs a MMA studio and I go down there sometimes to workout with them. It definitely burns up calories. I do softer things like Tai Chi more now, after having been banged up in the dojo for so many years. But I still like your suggestion.

I have always worked out with weights, but I hate cardio. We have cardio machines at my gym, but I get bored of them quickly and steer away from that. I have enrolled at the local CC as a way of keeping myself in check. By taking the class, I am then committed to show up and do the circuit training along with everyone else . On days I do not have class, I will do weights and walk at night. Plus, I like being on campus again and I really enjoy the atmosphere. I attended my CC ten years before I got my bachelor's! Anyway, my goal is to get more "cut up".

I hear you on the accountability thing. My wife goes to a crossfit type gym and likes that structure. I can't do the machines either, I'm trying to run some and ride my bike more it seems to help me. Good luck on your fitness goals and yeah College Campuses are wonderful...maybe a yoga class is in your future?

California rates -- so good! Cost per unit is around $CDN 140 at CC here. Don't know what parking costs, as I gave my last car to my son 17 years ago. He needed it more than I did. Only exercise I get is walking - and running for buses. Seems to work. I'm 73.
