Well, we all know that the Patriots will beat the Broncos but will the Panthers beat the Cardinals?

As the great Lee Corso would say, "not so fast my friend." Denver has a great defense, and Peyton is playing well. Also Peyton is out to prove that he is not stiff, and Brady is on a mission, tearing the NFL, to prove that his balls are not deflated. Either way it will be a great game. Carolina will beat the Cardinals. :yup:

Denver does have a great defense and Peyton is playing well. Especially for someone who needs assistance getting out of his wheelchair. But however great he once was, he is no longer that player. I hope it's a good game. My prediction is Pats 30, Broncos 20.

I'm cheering for the Broncos. The first NFL game I went to was their opening game in the 1997 season and I've been a fan since then.

I'm cheering for Denver because when one day when I was in Colorado and had an unexpected free day to ski, the slopes were empty because they were in the 1998-9 NFC championship game. Thanks, Broncos!

I'm surprised that the Pats-Broncos game went the way it did. Basically, Denver played much better than I thought they would/could, including Peyton. They were the better team and deserved to win.

It seems clear that Carolina is going to beat Arizona. The only redemption for my tv viewing will be watching the X-Files.

I've read that the new episodes start slowly, but that the third episode makes it worthwhile.

I enjoyed the X-Files last night. I didn't think it was slow. I also liked the tie-in to the right-wing conspiracy theorists because, as you know, I love a good conspiracy theory. Part 2 tonight. My hope is that this mini-series is successful and they pick it up as a full series afterwards.

So far the Broncos defense look awesome, the commercials are just average and the snacks are very tasty. (3:10 remaining first quarter)

With 14 minutes left in the game it's hard to see Carolina turning this thing around.

That was like the Iran/Iraq War, I wanted both sides (more specifically both QB's) to lose.

Well, at least the Manning family now has as many combined Super Bowl rings as Tom Brady.

I kind of feel bad for Cam Newton, especially since he'll have to live down not diving after that fumble, but he's only 26 so hopefully for his sake he'll get a chance at redemption someday.

I don't feel bad at all, because his post-game behavior confirmed everything I dislike about him. He's cocky and arrogant when things go his way, but acts like a petulant child when they don't.

Personally, the game ended the best way it could have; Newton had to eat a big plate of humility, and Manning had very little to do with the win (and the season for that matter).

I really hope Manning takes this perfect moment to retire. He was a great player but those days are long gone now. It's more fitting for him to go out on a good note with everyone remembering his comeback, the Superbowl win and all the records he set. He's got more money than God and he'll slide perfectly behind a microphone for his post-playing career. I'd hate to see him play another year somewhere, embarrass himself or even worse, really get badly injured.

There are a lot of people who decried the game as boring. That's because the NFL has become like a video game where the QB is simply everything, passing is held above all else, and scoring is all there is to it. Well, instead we saw two dominant defenses duke it out with a whole lot of hitting going on. It came down to turnovers--typical for a defensive struggle; turnovers can be overcome in high-flying and -scoring games but not when each possession and field position are critical. Kinda reminded me of the days of the Doomsday Defense and the Steel Curtain, without the head-slapping, of course. (R.I.P., Mike Webster)

I was pulling for the old man, but I thought the NKOTB would dominate.

Now Manning will (I think) go off into the sunset quietly, taking the HGH issue with him. (To the NFL's everlasting relief--they don't want THAT can of worms opened!)
