I sincerely appreciate the comments Kizmet. And dovetailing Bruce’s reply … you’re welcome.

Remembering Veterans Day—Ronald Reagan November 11th 1985 (remembering that Reagan was prior to, as well as, a WW2 veteran).

major56: "...(remembering that Reagan was prior to, as well as, a WW2 veteran)..."

John: My father (who served in the Navy in WW1) admired him tremendously as fellow liberal activist Democrat. They both voted for FDR all four times.

Reagan qualified for officer candidacy in 1937 in large part because of his successful completion of fourteen home study courses through Army Extension. I wonder if he was the only President who took home study courses?

John, my father was a WW2 veteran; served as did Ronald Reagan in the US Army Air Forces (USAAF), e.g., China-Burma-India (CBI) Theater - 10th Air Force)).

In contrast, my father never voted for FDR—voted for NY Governor Thomas E. Dewey in lieu of both FDR (1944) and Harry Truman (1948)—Oh well (re had to be at minimum a 21 year-old back then to vote). Also voted for the Republican landslide winner in 1952 (34th POTUS Dwight D. Eisenhower).

I've got an Ike and Mamie commemorative plate on display in my curio case.* It's sometimes hard to remember that he was a mainstream Republican, especially in comparison with . . . oh, never mind. He just seemed like an awfully nice person, and while he wasn't in any sense a liberal, he leaned just far enough leftward for the John Birch Society to identify him as a "conscious agent of the communist conspiracy."
