Video Gamers - A Question!

I'm not a gamer. Not really. I don't own a system or anything. But I was watching TV a few days ago and this guy was on a show and he was talking about this new game he invented called "No Man's Sky" and it looked pretty cool. Like cool enough that I might actually buy it. But I'd have to buy a system first. I think it's a PS4 game so...
So my question is, is that really just a stupid idea? Is it really that fun to play these games. Is it really just a waste of time? Should I be asking people to talk me out of this?

 

If you have the free time and the disposable income, sure, go ahead and get one.

I enjoy video games but just don't really have the time for them anymore as my hobbies have shifted and the kids and wife have more stuff going on.

 

Unfortunately, the release date is between now and never. I would hold off buying anything until a date is actually announced. It may not come out until the PS5.

 

How about Fallout4? I'm told it's also a PS4 game.

 

These guys are saying June 2016. That's only 8 months (if it's true).

It is not a review, it can't be, the game is not out yet. It is scheduled to release on June 2016. This is a game preview. The game does look amazing, however, I'm not sold on it yet. And this is coming from a life-long gamer (I've been gaming since 1983). Fallout 4 looks amazing, also Uncharted 4 comes out next March, another amazing game. I still game here and there, albeit not as much as I use to back in my heyday of gaming.:tongue1:

 

I haven't played it, but a game that I was really impressed with was The Last of Us - Remastered. I think originally a PS3 title, but was redone for the PS4. That game alone was worth buying a PS4.

 

Keep in mind, too, that most consoles today are not just for gaming. They can be used to watch DVDs/BluRays and access apps like Netflix. I have my PS3 set up as a media player as well, so I can stream music and videos from my PC.

Someone else I know just pointed that out to me and frankly, that was the tie-breaker because I'm going to transition out of cable TV ASAP and having the gaming console will allow for that. Thanks for the thought.

 

Sony also recently started a service called Playstation Vue, which basically provides streaming live TV service. I think it is only offered in certain areas now.

I really enjoyed the last two Fallout games. The Vegas one was especially fun since I knew I was moving out here when I played it.

 

I've been playing it. A little time intensive, but entertaining. Worth getting.

 

I'm planning on doing a Black Friday thing. The consoles are actually less expensive than I thought. I saw one at Target that comes as a Fallout package. It could be fun.
