I don't mind saying that I'm a fan of the internet. A big fan. I have sites that I visit regularly and sometimes I just follow links across the web, ending up in some very weird spots. I thought I'd start a thread on my favorite sites. Some are old and familiar for me and some might be really new to me (even if they're old and familiar to you). I hope that people add in their favorites too. Here's my first offering:

For anything involving trip planning, I love hipmunk.com So smart, and clever, and easy to use. Goodbye Kayak, Expedia, and so forth.

For those who love to travel on the cheap, Hovel Stay is a great way to rent a spare bedroom for the night, barn, igloo, attic, basement, yurt, tipi, shed, survival shelter, or whatever...

Last year, when I looked up the cheapest Airbnb in Berkeley, it was someone who offered the opportunity to sleep in the back seat of his Buick in his driveway for $10, and he would bring a donut in the morning.

    Twitch

I've become an addict, on top of a streamer, myself with some rather impressive gaming accomplishments if I do say so, myself. I take less measures to protect my identity there, so I won't tell you which among the thousands of channels is mine, but if you hang out there at any point in time you can revel in the mystery of whether happens to be me that you are watching [IMG]

One of my cousins is dating a guy who will be getting rich any day now from Twitch. Apart from his love of all things weed and his part-time job (he's 34) at Lowes Twitch is his long-term plan for making money. We see links to it all the time on his Facebook page.

    Good stuff.

You probably already know that absolutely nobody gets rich off of Twitch. The people who make the most money are rich off of doing something else- that is, internet celebrities who get attention because they are already rich- or young women who show a WHOOOOOOOLE lot of their bodies but are terrible at playing games.

I've gotten a few donations, but when I plan my budget, I always project to make exactly $0.00 from gaming. It's just a fun, stupid, little hobby that I only do because I enjoy the time I spend on it.

I figure becoming a video game millionaire is like becoming a rock star, NFL player, or lottery winner. It could happen, but it's probably not wise to count on it as a career choice.

    So, there's a chance? :scratchchin:

Competetive gamers can make a living off of winning competitions. I only go for high scores on classic arcade games and good speedrun times on retro console games. So, my only shot at getting rich would be if some well-off old lady thinks I'm cute and donates a fortune to me. It could happen. Old ladies love Maniac Craniac :bling:
