Lynda.com is an online learning company. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/04/10/business/dealbook/linkedin-to-buy-lyndacom-an-online-learning-company.html
I simultaneously really like and also dislike Lynda. I think their courses are terrific, and there are so many long free sample courses. But I think they make their zillions from people like me who sign on for $25 a month (for unlimited courses), then forget to cancel when the course is done. Six months later: hey, I've just paid $150 for . . . nothing. Of course I have only self to blame, and I've finally learned to put a "Cancel Lynda" reminder on my calendar.
I'm not sure forgetfulness is their real revenue model, although I suppose that doesn't bother them. Nowadays they do a lot of business as outsourced corporate training, where companies will negotiate with them for large sets of licenses.
