Well, it seems that the people in charge of Harvard have decided that it would be better if the faculty members weren't sleeping with the undergrads so they have passed a rule prohibiting sexual relationships between undergrads and the instructors.

Apparently grad students are still in the game though. :smlove2:

Oh, I was wondering if it was still okay to sleep with the grad students.

I still think it's a bit insane that they even needed a policy. Isn't it common sense NOT to have sex with a student? Maybe it's because I started teaching high school prior to teaching college...

They don’t; merely a CYA re potential future litigation move…

What is the world coming to when a student can't even have sex with his or her own professor anymore? Next thing you'll know, they'll ban Sex Work-Study programs for lower income prostitutes. Eventually, they won't allow sex in exchange for pay raises and then no adjunct in the country will be able to make a living wage.

Maybe we should have a Constitutional Amendment barring politicians from having sex with their constituents. :) That would probably work better at getting politicians out of office than term limits!

As I understand it, there are many, many schools that do not have a of any kind in such matters. I forget if it was in the original article I posted or in something else I read but Brown University has a policy that essentially says, "We ask that faculty members consider not sleeping with the students that are in their classes." I'm not sure how this is not considered to be a conflict of interest. Can anyone help me to understand that?
