I had a military buddy of mine tell me that Google just purchased Moffett Field in Mountain View California from NASA and the US Air Force. This is interesting because Google has been snatching up a ton of real estate all over the San Francisco bay area during the past year and driving up real estate values, which is interesting because real estate prices in the bay area are not cheap to begin with; and they are securing real estate so they can provide them to their employees at a otherwise reduced cost. My buddy rents a 2800sf 3 bedroom condo in San Mateo and he pays about $2,900 per month. I wonder if this is a new recruiting method Google is using to recruit talent and have them relocate to the San Francisco bay area?
Google leases about 1000 acres of Moffett Field from NASA. It is a long term lease and was announced in early November. NASA stuff as well as the CA ANG operations still conduct business as normal.
Google uses the runway (and presumably some hangers) for their corporate aircraft). The old airship hanger is also used for the Breakthrough Prize Awards that I watch on TV every year https://breakthroughprize.org/?controller=Page&action=news&news_id=20
