I would like to offer you all my best wishes this Christmas. At the same I time I would like to ask, in the spirit of diversity, that you take a moment and learn something about a holiday that is special to me. Take a moment and learn about Vesak. Significance of Vesak - Buddha Day May all good things come to you and the ones you love.
Merry Christmas to all ! My dad's a Buddhist, mum's a catholic. Both religions pretty strong in the family. lol. Alot of cross culture religious mash ups.
There are some nice parallels. http://www.amazon.com/Living-Buddha-Christ-Anniversary-Edition/dp/159448239X/ref=pd_sim_b_3/190-9151448-8791523?ie=UTF8&refRID=15JBAPJD1AS386VE5HVS
I am bumping this thread up from last year because, obviously, it's Christmas time again. I know that for some people it is a very sacred day and for others it's simply for gift-giving and having a winter celebration. In either case I hope everyone has a happy and safe holiday.
Io, Saturnalia! There are so many different interesting winter solstice celebrations out there, both still observed and from history. Regardless of which we prefer, hopefully all of us (other than our Antipodean friends) can appreciate that the days are finally about to start getting longer.
Best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low stress, non-addictive, gender neutral, winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most joyous traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, but with respect for the religious persuasion of others who choose to practice their own religion as well as those who choose not to practice a religion at all. Additionally, I wish you all a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling, and medically uncomplicated recognition of the generally accepted calendar year 2016, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions have helped make our society great, without regard to the race, creed, color, religious, or sexual preferences of the wishes. DISCLAIMER: This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for her/himself or others and no responsibility for any unintended emotional stress these greetings may bring to those not caught up in the holiday spirit. Just kidding, Merry Christmas to all! :grouphug:
