Army trauma expert quit after admitting PhD fraud

A researcher at the Army's main laboratory for improving the care of combat casualties has resigned after the Associate Press revealed she did not have the PhD she claimed (from both Texas and Yale), or her claimed Master's from U of Maryland or U of Texas.

The Army Institute of Surgical Research was informed of this situation by a whistleblower, but according to emails obtained by AP, the Army rebuffed the person who tried to tell them and ignored the situation. The Army also says it not responsible, since the person was employed by a contracting firm, which should have checked her out.

Needless to say, she called herself "Dr. Apodaca."

How many more frauds are there that will never get uncovered? Sadly, until Universities publish the names of their grads, alongside the year and the degree / major earned, it will continue to go on....

There is already the National Student Clearinghouse. Employers should use it.
