Truth in advertising at last. At least Mary won't be fooled by Almeda College and University, nor the other opportunities that followed: making $60,000 a year working at home, a miracle weight loss method, and becoming debt-free in 90 days.

 

I have read ads in several reputable publications where one can earn this kind of money at home, e.g., National Enquirer, Globe, The Sun--and I know these papers would not stretch the truth.

Also, there is a new weight loss product on the market where one eats all they want, while the pill takes all the fat out of the food. Pretty cool, huh?

 

I'll bet a book with that title would fly to the top of the bestseller list!

 

Reminds me of a short horror story I read in which a sleazy mail order guy gets fitting punishment. It was set in England -- and had to be; he cashed in on people's desire to slim by placing small ads that simply said "LOSE POUNDS. Send 5 (British pound sterling sign) to Box..."

And lose pounds they did indeed.

And then there was the ad that read:
FREE POSTAGE STAMPS
I'll reveal the secret of how to get all the free postage stamps you want. For the secret, send 20 first-class postage stamps to . . .

 

These things are becoming very expensive!! At $595 a piece I wonder if I will ever save enough money to buy one .

That's a very clever idea: combine all possible self-help regimens into one book. Get buns of steel while making a fortune stuffing envelopes. Burn fat while buying properties for no money down. Earn a degree while chopping vegetables at lightning speed.
