Just saw a Fox News alert that skeletal remains have been found in a D.C. park and suspicion is that it's Chandra Levy. If so, how tragic. Conditt is, in my opinion, certainly guilty of more than having had an illicit affair.

Your jumping to an unfounded conclusion. A factual statement would be he may be guilty of more than an affair.

Point taken and thanks. I guess I thought by saying it is my opinion I really didn't form a conclusion. Am listening to the news as I surf and it is looking more and more like it is Levy. I cannot imagine what her poor family is suffering through. I know when my daughter nearly died at 16 from a car wreck I was an emotional mess. Wow! On the other hand at least if this is she,
they will have, for what it's worth, closure.

    NOW CONFIRMED

It's now confirmed and official that the skeletal remain are those of Chandra Levy. My heart goes out to her family, how sad and tragic. Cause of death is yet to be determined.

    Hey Jimmy, help me out

Jimmy - I'm a bit confused. You get into a squabble in a thread on the DL forum regarding your credentials. You say that you're not going to post on DegreeInfo forums anymore, in fact, you're going to turn in your membership. Then you slide over to the Off-Topics forum and start posting on news topics such as boxing and Chandra Levy. You do realize that you're still on DegreeInfo don't you? It's the same forum with all the same people. Does this mean that you weren't serious when you said you were going to resign? Does this mean that you're now willing to answer the questions that you were asked regarding your credentials? Help me out with this.
BTW, I don't care if you stay or go. I also don't care what your credentials are, as long as you're willing to be honest about them.

    Dear Jack,

I emailed and asked how to remove myself and got no answer. I checked the F & Q's and saw nothing about the removal process. So, while I will never post on the DL forum. When I saw the topic of the 2004 Democratic race on this forum I was curious since politics is a great love of mine. Then, I decided to post concerning some of my other "loves," such as boxing, that's all. I am sure a few others on here can validate I have emailed them privately and inquired about the way to "resign" from the forum. Thank you for your civility, kindness and decency.

    Jimmy Cliftonianism

    Dear Jack,
What you are observing is "classic" Jimmy Cliftonianism. Good ole Jimmy is doing here what he attempted to do at AED a few years ago. He masqueraded as a pyschologist and was exposed and never provided a competent reply, IIRC.

Here is the thread which exposed him then:
    http://groups.google.com/groups?q=%22jimmy+clifton%22+group:alt.education.distance&hl=en&lr=&selm=3A4A4CA8.2D76602B%40ix.netcom.com&rnum=1

Perhaps Jimmy is being afforded too much bandwidth, but I think it's important for all forum members to see this con artist at work, once again.

Jimmy will evade discussion and continue to post ambiguous drivel or will resort to infantile, ad hominem attacks.

    Kindly,
    Steven King
P.S. Jimmy - simply answer the questions about your "credentials" and perhaps your credibility will be semi-repaired.

    OJ, Condit, and this forum

A curious link is that OJ and Condit both were examined by the same polygraph expert, Ed Gelb, whose only degree is a Ph.D. from La Salle University, Louisiana (awarded before the FBI raid that resulted in the founders going to federal prison).

    John,

Just out of curiosity do you know how one becomes a "polygraph expert?" I have always wondered about this everytime a nationally famous case uses one. Thanks!

Surfing the net provided this little morsel, I guess I'll check the membership of the APA a little while after this post.

What Does It Take to Be a Forensics Expert?
John Lentini, a real fire and arson expert with Applied Technical Services, Inc. in Marietta, Georgia, has found a cabbage patch where some forensic experts spring to life fully formed:

Does anyone need certification, but want to avoid messy documentation and examinations? Try AACCE (http://www.aacce.org) It looks like the ACFE, only more so. Fill out the form, pay the money and presto! $375 buys certification and one year's dues, $735 buys 3 years. $195 a year thereafter. You can even sign up on-line if you
pay by credit card! No documentation is required (though they may ask for some later). The application does not even ask where you got your degree. Here is the disclaimer at the bottom of the application.:

"I certify that the above information is true and correct. I may be asked to provide documentation. If I would misrepresent my credentials, refuse to provide documentation at a later time if asked, or allow my membership in the American Academy of Certified Consultants and Experts to lapse, I understand and agree that my Diplomate Status
will be revoked and my membership terminated. I affirm that all of the information that I have provided to AACCE is true, correct, and complete and I agree to hold harmless and indemnify the AACCE and its officers, directors, employees, and
agents for any misrepresentations of my credentials and for all claims, loss, damage, judgment, or expense. I certify that I have not been convicted of a felony. I have not been disciplined for an ethical violation in the last 10 years and I am not under investigation by any legal or medical authority or licensing board.

Type your name exactly as you want it to appear on your Diploma:"

But what if you don't want to be a fire and arson examiner? Maybe you'd prefer to be an expert in integrative medicine, or psychotherapy, or crisis intervention, or document comparison. Hey, they've got you covered!

Jimmy Clifton is at it again....

After posting that blurb about "lie and buy" credentials - I happened to find another little web page from Mr. Clifton.

I had no idea that one person could have so much space on the Angelfire server: http://www.angelfire.com/in3/EvanChrCh/socialwork.html

    At the bottom we read:

MEMBERSHIP in the Association for Authentic Social Work is free. We do ask for a $10 donation for membership certificates and wallet cards. Membership includes a periodic electronic newsletter.

    Founder and Executive Director
    James Walter Clifton, PhD, LCSW

    Cliftonian Incongruence?

On the one hand, as the Founder and Executive Director of the Association for Authentic Social Work, Jimmy decries pyschiatry based on the alleged treatment of Frances Farmer, an actress of this century portrayed in the movie Frances. According to the Citizens Commission on Human Rights (as quoted on Jimmy's webpage) she was brutalized by the psychiatric process.

But here, on the other hand, Jimmy appeals to the prestige of the American Psychotherapy Association because its membership includes psychiatrists of great reknown, such as Dr. Aaron Beck. Oddly, Dr. Beck does not appeal to membership of this organization on his biography.

What's next, Jimmy? The Association of Ambiguous Web Sites Encouraging The Spread of Bogus Credentials? Will you be soliciting for the position of Executive Director, or will history repeat itself once again?

Re: Jimmy Clifton is at it again....

    Uh, oh… redux

The Rev. Dr. James Walter Clifton, B.S., Th.M., Ph.D., Psy.D, D.S.W., LMHC., LCSW, LMFT, Nationally Certified Clinical Psychologist has, at various times, claimed the following degrees:
    • B.S. in Social Science, Delta State University, Cleveland,
      Misssissippi

Th.M. in Pastoral Counseling, Bethany Theological Seminary, Dothan, Alabama

Ph.D. in Pastoral Counseling, Bethany Theological Seminary,
      Dothan, Alabama

Psy.D. Summit University, New Orleans, Louisiana

D.S.W. School for Christian Ministry, Saint Paul, Indiana

He has claimed the following ordinations:
    • Unitarian-Universalist Association

National Association of Congregational Christian Churches

Reformed Presbyterian Church General Conference of Evangelical Protestant Churches (of which he was General Overseer)

The Evangelical Christian Church (of which he is National Pastor)

...in addition to having been asked to serve on the Board of Trustees of the National body of the Christian Church

He has also claimed the following affiliations:

    • Clinical Member of American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists

Nationally Certified Clinical Psychologist by the National Association of Registered Psychologists, Inc.

Qualified, eligible and approved to take National
Psychologist Exam of the American Psychological Association

Certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist, National Board of Cognitive Behavioral Therapists

      Certified Addictions Specialist

      Member, American Psychological Society

Member, International Center for the Study of Psychiatry and Psychology

Association for Authentic Social Work (of which he is Founder and Executive Director)

Diplomate of the American Psychotherapy Association

But as he has stated emphatically in another thread,
    • I DO NOT present myself as a psychologist but a minister and pastoral counselor as the PhD from Bethany was in pastoral counseling.

Becoming a member of the American Psychological Society is easy; just fill out the form and send them your money. I am curious, however, how Jimmy managed to become a Diplomate in the American Psychotherapy Association, as their Web page delineating the Requirements for Diplomate Status clearly states:

    • ” Diplomate status will be made available to applicants who have achieved a
Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in their respective
      discipline.
      [emphasis added]

So, Jimmy, did they waive their requirements just for you? Are you lying about your credentials, or did you lie to the American Psychotherapy Association to get them? Come on, Jimmy, you’re among friends; you can tell us. Were not like those other guys on the Distance Learning Forum… :D

Gee, Gus, you followed Steven King over here to "bother me" on this forum. You folks should seek psychiatric help for OCD! Does this constitute harrassment? Gus, you're smart, contact the APA and ask them. Their email is on their web site. Like I said before, you'd better know ALL there is to know about someone's education and credentials before you criticise and make fools of yourselves. Now, let me clarify another issue that is long, long overdue. The term "Nationally Certified Psychologist" does NOT imply "licensure." See http://www.enamp.org. Currently NAMP, and other organizations, are in litigation with the State of Indiana and have been for a long time. NAMP has won case after case, see their site, regarding the use of this credential and it looks very promising that Indiana will lose their case. I was on the phone with a NAMP rep this afternoon to get the latest details. Would it be asking too much to put an end to the bellicose tone of these posts?

    Jimmy,

Would it be too much for you to simply and directly answer the questions, so your "way less than 15 minutes of fame" can come to a close and be forgotten ? THANK YOU !

Or do you think "hanging out" with those with REAL degrees gives value to your "less than wonderful" ones ? Now there's a thought.

    HUMOR=ON

Nothing good on TV tonight ? Then log on to this forum ...

Tonight's segment: "We Got Questions ... Jimmy Got NO Answers"

Log on and see Jimmy bend, bob, and weave, but answer nothing directly.

    HUMOR=OFF

Follow? Other forum? Do you still believe you are on a completely different forum? Really Jimmy, you can’t be that naive.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a clinical diagnosis. Are you dispensing free clinical advice? If you are the professional you claim to be, I am certain that you are aware that doing so, not only is unethical, but also makes you legally liable for malpractice. I’m certain you have violated the code of ethics of more than one of the organizations of which you profess to be a member.

Not at all. I am simply reposting what you have stated and posing questions. You are publicly claiming certain credentials for personal gain. You are presenting yourself to the public as having expertise and credentials in a medical or quasi-medical profession. Public safety demands that the truth be ascertained.

I did contact the APA; I went to their Web site and looked up the Requirements for Diplomate Status. They clearly state that a regionally accredited Master’s degree is required. The truth is you have never claimed one. By stating that I don’t know ALL of your education and credentials you are coyly intimating that you do, indeed, have a regionally accredited Master’s degree. Do you? I admit that I only know of the education and credentials that you have publicly disclosed, but given your propensity for shameless self-promotion, and your willingness to advertise your self-aggrandizing degree mill credentials, it would be logical to assume that if you had ever earned a regionally accredited Master’s degree, we would have been apprised of that fact long ago.

So answer the question, Jimmy. Do you have a regionally accredited Master’s degree? If not, how did you circumvent the APA’s requirements? Do you really want me to contact them concerning your membership?

When you were on the phone with NAMP this afternoon, did you explain to them that your Psy.D. from Summit University was not from a regionally accredited university? Did you inform them that you did not meet their criteria for being a Nationally Certified Psychologist? NAMP’s Web page entitled Nationally Certified Psychologist Criteria clearly states:

    • Certification is allowed by meeting the following:
A masters or doctoral degree in psychology (40 hour > minimum) from a regionally accredited university; 2 years post graduate experience in a clinical, applied, or academic setting involved in psychological services and/or activities; and passing an examination on psychological theory and practice.[emphasis added]

So, Jimmy, do you have a Master's degree from a regionally accredited university as required by NAMP and the APA? Are you going to respond to my civil, kind and decent questions, or will you continue to epitomize rudeness and resort to insulting my intelligence by continuing to post obfuscating drivel?
