Things are thawing out (not an issue in my area), the days are warming and the mind turns to summer fun. What are your plans for summer sports, or other fun? I've become addicted to stand up paddle surfing and plan to utilize my summer vacation days doing that. I also have a kayak trip that I lead on Santa Cruz Island every year. That will be going on in July. What are your plans?
Most years my mom, my kids, and my wife go to Chincoteague, Virginia for a few days. On Virginia's Eastern Shore, it's the only beach town anywhere in this area that's not soul-crushingly commercialized. Plus it's tradition, so even if we could hop in our private jet and go to Monaco for the week we'd still probably go to Chincoteague. Any other trips will likely be non-family oriented, so even if they're fun they don't count.
We had really planned, at the combined age of 148, to go to Burning Man for the first time. But the just-completed week in India, all of it at temperatures of 115˚and higher, left us so enervated, we're rethinking the plan. Tentatively Bryce and Zion in September.
Chatham for this coming long (5 days) weekend. Misquamicut and Ocean Beaches for day trips. Block Island in September.
I'm going to spend as much time as I can with my newborn baby and maybe sneak in a nap or two when nobodies looking.
