    Hey, friends!

I eat fruit like it's candy (it basically is!). One of the best pieces of fruit I have ever eaten in my life are these cool-looking things called rambutans.

The outside is colorful, smooth and tickly- I'd say they feel very much like koosh balls- they open easily and reveal a white, perfectly sweetened piece of soft fleshy goodness that, to me, is like some kind of cross between a pear and a grape. They are about as common in Malaysia (the only place I've ever had them) as peaches are in the United States. I wish I had one in front of me right now! Maybe one day, I'll be lucky enough to ever have another. :yumyum:

I love trying new foods of any type, but especially fruits since they hit my sweet tooth and often have such beautiful color and texture. Are there any favorites that you can share with me, and maybe give me an idea of where I might be able to find them partake in the bliss?

There are plenty at the Vietnamese market in the United States. Most of them come from the Vietnamese-American farmers in Florida. This fruit is really common in Southeast Asian countries (Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Laos, the Phillipines, and etc.)

Jackfruit. They can grow up to 80 lbs each and taste kind of like juice fruit bubble gum.

I like starfruit, called carambolas in some countries. But they're only good when they're fresh, the ones in American supermarkets are tasteless. Although, there's nothing like actually living in the tropics and eating fruit right off the tree to ruin one's taste for shipped tropical fruit.

It's Cayenne Cherry season in Florida right now Eugenia uniflora - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I find most folks actually fear these are poisonous and the fruit just goes to waste. We pick all we can carry from a couple of spots around town (with permission of course). I have never seen them for sale, but they are a remarkable and tasty fruit.
