Ultimate Warrior passes away | WWE.com

I stopped watching wrestling 15 years ago, but I still find it sad to see ANOTHER one of my childhood idols pass away. He was only 54 and was just inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this weekend, then made a surprise return on Raw monday night to give a spectacular speech on-air.

It's really crazy that he dies right after resurfacing in the wrestling world and in the process, rebuilding a bridge that was burned nearly two decades ago by all the personal issues he had with others in the business.

There was never, nor will there ever be, anyone quite like the Ultimate Warrior. Non-wrestling fans will probably never understand. :sadwavey:

Bobo Brazil was the only wrestler I actually paid money to go see. Died in '98. We could actually use his Coco Butt around here to get rid of some unwanted folks.

    Steroid induced heart problems?

Many wrestlers have died suddenly, often due to heart problems and/or drug overdoses. At this point, Warrior's (yes, that is his legal name...) cause of death has not been made public.

There could be any of a number of reasons why these guys die very young, but steroids is a go-to answer that has yet to be the proven link between them. It's no secret in football, baseball, basketball, cycling and many other sports that steroid use is rampant, but we don't see the same number of young deaths from those guys. Unless there is a difference in the way wrestlers use steroids, I'd bet that there is more to the story. Pain killers are a biggie. Actually, a HUGGIE. The percentage of wrestlers who use steroids might be something like 80% (just made up, hypothetically), but I'd wager that the percentage of wrestlers using pain killers most days of their life- even well after retirement- hovers somewhere between 99% and 100%.

The "Ultimate Warrior" wasn't really one. He didn't serve. I guess that's okay. The "Sarge" didn't either. But "Sgt Slaughter" did (a Marine sergeant). He gets my vote.

Ultimate Warrior was a true army of one- having fought epic battles for truth and right in infinitely many galaxies before lending his presence to ours and transiently calling earth his home. The spirit of the Warrior is immortal, lives on in each and every one of us, and will continue his eternal quest in infinitely many galaxies beyond.

You would know that if you had ever heard him say so on national television :pat:
