    I'm cleaning my desk; I want to get rid of my scrap paper, so here's the answer a few days early; no one would have gotten it anyway.

    Based on extrapolating the number of postings to this forum, and the rate of posting, that is the day on which Gert Potgieter passes Rich Douglas, to become the poster of the most messages.

    As of yesterday, Gert had "only" 886 posts, but was posting at the rate of 5.1 a day. Rich had 1,656, but was "only" posting at the rate of 3.6 a day.

    If x = the number of days to equality of these two, then

    1656 + 3.6X = 886 + 5.1X
    X = 513 days.

    And you thought high school algebra was a waste of time.

    If, however, Russell Morris increases his output from 3.1 to 5 per day, Gert will not pass him until a date in November of 2017.

    And of course here at the Huber-McQueary Institute for Statistical Analysis, we are aware that things can change without rhyme or reason.

    Laters.

    Ah yes, but you have to take outliers into consideration. For instance, the next time someone starts or revives a thread about Trinity College & University, Russell's message output will at least double, throwing your figures totally out of whack.

    Or perhaps triple, Bruce. One of life's simple pleasures is to highlight the benefits of higher education.

    I'm really not sure which of the following a high number of posts (e.g., 3-5 per day) indicates:

    1. DL Expertise
    2. Interest in DL
    3. Strong DL Advocacy
    4. Disdain for Less-than-Wonderful Schools
    5. Anti-Degree Mill Junkie
    6. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder :D

    Look out, Rich! It will only take a few degree mill threads and I go into overtime. :D
