If the name doesn't ring a bell for you it's because you're not a chess fan. Young Magnus has just won the world championship of chess. He did it using a modified version of the Vendenberg defense of the Spronsky attack (I just made that all up). In reality he did it by kicking the other guys butt.

This was bound to happen one day. Magnus is basically the young Ivan Drago of chess. Huge accomplishment!

Sometimes I wish I didn't find myself so varied in my interests- I'm sure I'd have been a mean chess player if I took the time to study it. I really do find it facinating and once every long while will open up my box and set up some positions from classic games and imagine the genius it must have taken to innovate the winning strategies that in the whole of my life, I will only obtain a superficial understanding.

Sorry for the digression- games get me excited! Magnus is the man.

I think he and I would have a great match against one another. I would go in with full confidence that MC will be the victor :)

It's quite OK - especially if you taught them to play!

I have two grandchildren who learned to play at 5 or so. One I taught, the other learned from his Dad. I have two others who just couldn't be bothered at that age. All bright kids and I love them!

Yeah, but I'd probably kick your butt all over the board.:lmao:
