Translated from the Japanese this means "death by overwork." It has for years been an accepted cause of death in Japan.

Are any of our members in line for karoshi? Sometimes I feel like I'm in line and I think about how I might get out of line. Here's my current crazy solution. I'm going to get my SCUBA certs in line and then I'm going to enroll in the the University of Flinders Masters degree program in Maritime Archeology.

Don't die at your desk. Tell me how you're going to do it right.

John: What a great plan. The only maritime archaeologist I know of is (was?) diploma mill queen Maxine Asher, who "discovered" Atlantis, wrote books about it, and apparently communicated with its residents.

(It was Senator Paul Tsongas who is often credited with "No one, on her deathbed, ever said 'I wish I had spent more time in the office.'")

Thanks for putting a name to something I've been worried about more and more lately. The daily grind is really getting old.

I would love to get permanently out of the cubicle. It looks like you found a great way to go about doing just that! I'm not a good swimmer though, so maritime archaeology is probably out for me. :silly:

I echo those sentiments... I like what I do, however am looking for a change; it's not easy when you're making good $ though... Normally I work 40/week, however for the past 11 days it has been all 12 - 13 hr days - today and tomorrow to go, then back to 40hr weeks.

Does it count if I die of frostbite before I even get there because they didn't close down my job during a polar vortex? :(
