    Hi everyone!

I would like to become a big-time college professor, but I'm running into the issue that most colleges are starting to require their professors to have actually gone to school before. Ever. That's kind of a problem for me, since I don't even know what a real school looks like (yet!). I explained to MIT, who turned down my first application, that I vaguely recall seeing buildings here and there throughout my life that might have been schools- or not, who knows really- and that I felt confident that I could recognize one if I was staring right at it. Or at least that if I asked someone whether it was a school, I could understand the possible responses "yes" or "no" and that if it was like any other building I've seen on TV, I could probably figure out how to get inside. Basically, I stretched the truth a bit and carefully avoided mentioning that I don't do well with doorknobs that are placed on the left side. If it ever comes back to me that I withheld that from them, I'll just remind them that they never asked!

They responded by saying that they were not going to hire somebody who never even finished high school. So now, I'm stuck having to finish high school before I reapply. It's crazy- I know- but that today's economy for you!

Should I go for an online high school diploma, or skip all that and go right for the GED? I know I could save time and money if I went with the GED, but would they be more likely to hire me if I had the diploma? Please let me know. All this stuff is so confusing to me. I can't wait to start working, when everything will be so much easier

Why go through all the craziness for a HS diploma? Why not just get a PhD from a top-notch school...there MUST be one out there!

    Don't become discouraged, MC.

Randell is correct, the HS diploma isn't worth it. To pursue that route will require an ad nauseam diet of current teen-speak (e.g., you know "like" or I mean "like"), plus you're going to have to--that is if you want be in the "in" group--develop a taste for Justin Drew Bieber music, or even worse, listen to the incessant doctrinal diatribe of Professor Macklemore.

No, a convenient and expeditious route MUST be available.

WOW! I called them up and spoke to a guy whose voice sounded like Bane. I told him that I didn't have a high school diploma, but I wanted to get a doctorate that would lead to work as a college professor, and he immediately told me that I was hired! I reminded him that I was only calling for info on a degree, but he told me that the fact that I could use a phone (shh! my mother was the one who actually dialed for me!) meant that I was more than qualified to teach up to 300-level classes in Information Technology! They had JUST fired one of their instructors for asking one of his students to confirm his previous life experience before allowing him to waive the entire course for a fee, since it violated the school's Honor System to question the academic or professional history of anyone who wants a degree and has already submitted his credit card number. In other words- I have a job! For an Internationally Accredited school! Teaching Upper-Level classes! And I don't even have a GED!!!

    This site is awesome!!!!!

This is great news! I only just finished 5th grade and so maybe I can now be considered for a community college adjuct position.
My problem: Will the school bus drop me off at the CC?
