    Hi eveone!

It's always a problem for me to choose what to watch. I can spend the whole evening deciding what to watch and then go to sleep not making a decision! Can you advice some good films? I prefer detective stories)

My favorite is a movie directed by Mario van Peebles called BAADASSSSS!, in which he stars as his father, Melvin van Peebles. It's based on the true story of how Melvin made the first blaxploitation movie, and his perseverance and determination not to give up despite setback after setback are truly inspiring. Anyone who's ever made a film, or started a business, or tried to get through a long degree program, or anything like that will recognize themselves here.

There's sex and strong language in it, but if those aren't deal breakers then this movie is a must see.

(It's definitely not a detective story, though.)

The first one that pop's into my mind is Ace Ventura Pet Detective, but then again I'm a 12 year old boy. Other's you may like are Memento, Seven, LA Confidential, Usual Suspects (One of my favorites), The Departed, Mystic River.....maybe not all detective movies per se, but they are all good movies that you could enjoy watching.
My favorite movie of all time is Heat.

Not a movie, but the only serial drama I need about a complex criminal antihero – I hear these are popular – is twitter.com/CrimerShow.

Crimer Show defies easy explanation, but here's a start: Crimer Show on Twitter: Why you should follow this delightfully bizarre parody of crime shows.

How much crimeing has Crimer committed?

For our OP, there's Crimer's foil Detetcive.

For the kids there's a puppy!

  5. Ye gods! Did someone reanimate Chaucer and give him a Twitter account? I am seriously in bizarre, unmentionable love with Crimer Show now.

For detective flicks my personal tastes often skew to the classics. The Lady From Shanghai, The Blue Dahlia, The Big Sleep. For more comedic outings, the Thin Man series with Powell and Loy.

Oh, and Clean Slate with Dana Carvey is a delightful little sleeper. The 80's are "classic" now, right?

I can't say I have a favorite movie, although Saving Private Ryan was a movie that I thought was very well done. Lately I have been hearing good things Apocalypse Now which was before my time, but I can't wait to see it based on what I've read.

"You Can't Take It With You." Winner of the 1938 Best Picture Award at the Oscars. Funny and with a values message.

My favorite film was 35mm, but I haven't used it in a while because my camera is digital.

All kidding aside, one of my favorite movies of all time is Grease. I had such the crush on Olivia Newton-John as a kid.

Okay, that you used the word "film" probably means I'm not where near your class of connoisseur, however, I cut my teeth on Dragnet and if it's detective, I've seen it. I've seen every Columbo no less than twice, that's my favorite! Not exactly detective, but I've also seen every Matlock, Murder She Wrote, and Quincy. I've wanted to name all my sons Quincy, but the husband keeps objecting...
For modern shows, I've seen every Law and Order, but L&O SVU is probably my favorite. I love Detective Olivia Benson. :) My second favorite is definitely Law and Order Criminal Intent - Detective Goren is possibly my favorite modern character of all time. Criminal Minds is okay, early seasons are much better than now. Do you watch Castle? It's okay when my queue is empty. My new favorite show is called Blacklist! It's only on episode 6 - brand new. So far, so good.

Something that people may not know is that the actress Mariska Hagartay (who plays Olivia Benson) is the daughter of Hollywood sexbomb/actress Jayne Mansfield.

The Matrix - I enjoy the entire trilogy but the first one the most.

There are many truths in that movie... it was extremely well written.

I just saw Django Unchained. Wow. It's my current best movie ever of the week. I'm not a fan of cinematic violence, but this movie does an incredible job of making you WANT to see the bad guys get way worse than just a bullet to the heart. Django comes off as heroic without being either campfully virtuous nor stereotypically antiheroic. He has a mission that is easy to sympathise for. Great acting. Some really great, touching moments. Jamie Fox proves once again that he's good at EVERYTHING. Kerry Washington looks gorgeous, as usual, and shows that she has learned how to actually act over the years.

The movie also features some great one-liners that are well-timed and don't interupt the suspenseful pace of the plot. Fun, fun, fun :)

    I give it an A+.

Easy answer for me. Night of The Living Dead. I have seen that movie at least 60 times (probably closer to 100) over a 20 year period. I have it on VHS, CD-ROM, and at least 3 copies on DVD. It scared the hell out of me when I was real young (I was always afraid of the dead coming to get me as a child). I bought a copy for cheap during Halloween of my sophomore year in high school, and must have watched it 40 times over the course of that year. It was one of those movies that I would watch, and when it was over I would rewind it and watch it again.

Man, just thinking about it makes me want to pop it into the DVD player and watch it again. I think I will do just that.

    OK, so it's time to make a twist in this thread . . . . .

What bad movie do you like even though it's bad? C'mon, I know you're out there . . .

My choice, "Joe vs. the volcano" with Tom Hanks and Meg Whatever. A terrible movie but I love it.

Maybe it's because I think I have a brain cloud.
