So I'm moving back to Boston. We closed on our new home in the Boston suburbs last week and I'm giving my notice at work tomorrow morning.
I'm going to attempt to transition into a job with a university endowment, but in the interim my buddy lined up some contract work with the PE firm he works for. Kind of nervous about moving with nothing full-time lined up, but excited to be back in New England. If anyone knows of an endowment looking for someone with strong excel and powerpoint skills, average financial modeling skills, outstanding interpersonal skills, and who is just a peach to work next to on a daily basis, let me know.

Wow, good luck. No way I'd move without a full-time gig, but I'm sure you'll be fine.

Just in time for the change of seasons, one of the nicest times to be in New England. Good luck.

It's risky, but the ole' ball and chain is from Mass and wants to be there. She has a great job so if I don't find something it's on her to keep me in my opulent lifestyle. Our new house needs some work, so if I don't have a full-time gig at least I can be a handyman around the house to keep busy.

Thanks. I lived there previously for four years and really like it. The biggest change for me is going to be going from the city to the suburbs. You're right though, Fall in New England is hard to top.

I enjoyed my almost-3 years just outside Boston. I'm wearing a Bosox hat at the moment, in fact.

    Good luck with your move.

My parents were New Englanders (CT and NH) and I've spent a lot of time up there. New England autumns are great. If only they weren't followed by New England winters!

    Good luck!
I'm sure you'll find something. My daughter and her husband moved to that area in 2009 right after she was hired at MIT, but he did not have a job lined up. It took a while but he got a decent job at Harvard.

Are you going to finish that ALM in Government when you get to Boston?

Honestly, probably not. I would really like to but my first priority is finding a full-time job and if I land a position with an endowment it's likely not going to leave me with a lot of free time. One of the perks of working at Harvard was that you could take HES courses for $40. I can tell you now that I don't have the pedigree to get hired at Harvard's endowment so that discounted rate is something that won't be available to me. I'm not sure I want to spend close to $10k to finish a degree with little utility to me.

    Welcome! And good luck.

We all might consider a Boston-area DI meetup. Especially if Bruce is buying! …If we aren't all too busy. So maybe not. But maybe.

Not Texas, but I hope all goes well for you in Boston. If convenient; keep us posted.

Well, Boston would be a bit geographically inconvenient for me. Any DI'ers in northwest Ohio?
