Well, the record for most associate's degrees seems to be 18.

The record for most master's degrees seems to be 30.

The record for most doctoral degrees seems to be 8.

But what's the record for most bachelor's degrees?

I have a personal best of one and there is zero chance of me breaking it.

Let's include the "most honorary doctorates" category. WHen I used to follow this closely, there was an ongoing competition, for decades, between the King of Thailand (Phumiphon), and the now-retired head of the University of Notre Dame, Father Hesburgh. As of a few years ago, they each had around 170, and were racking them up at the rate of 5 to 10 a year.

Hmm, I doubt I will ever be able to join that competition.

Does Chief Alexander Swift Eagle still hold the record for most milled doctorates?

I'm not sure; I used to enjoy writing about Bishop Rummersfield of California Christian University, who was identified in the catalog as Walter Rummersfield, Ph.D., Ph.D., Ph.D., Ph.D., Ph.D., GS-9, Ph.D., Ph.D., Ph.D., Ph.D.

(I believe the 6thwas his Civil Service ranking.)

And there may be hope, Ted. When Bob Hope, who enjoyed getting honorary doctorates, was 99, there was a plan launched to award him 100 honorary doctorates (from 100 schools) on his 100th birthday. Alas, while he did (barely) make it to 100, his physical and mental states were so poor, the plan was scrapped.

Aside from the GS-9 business, is that proper form? To list multiple Ph.Ds in your signature?

    Hmm.

I think it looks better like this:

    Walter Rummersfield, Ph.D(9)

So long as it discloses somewhere in the vicinity that Ph.D stands for Phake Degree.

I'm thinking that it's much more difficult to obtain multiple bachelor's degrees than other degrees with residency requirements and limits that schools have on awarding second and third degrees. It seems like a lot of community colleges have no limit on the number of associate's degrees that can be awarded, and the residency requirements are low since associate's degree programs are only around 60 credits.

Excessive degrees = waste of time = waste of money = get a life and join the real world. Just one kids opinion.

Excessive degrees = a waste of time? And here I thought collecting degrees would be a good hobby.

But we all have our hobbies...
Following sports = waste of time = waste of money = get a life and join the real world.

Wiki gives us these possibilities for FM, Ted:

Finance minister, a executive or cabinet position in a government
First Minister, the leader of a government cabinet
Foreign minister, a cabinet minister who helps form the foreign policy of a sovereign state
FIDE Master, a title awarded by the world chess governing body
Field marshal the highest rank in the British Army
A Federal Magistrate in the Federal Magistrates' Court of Australia
Football manager, a type of Coach

And I'm supposing a person might use FM to denote association with Freemasonry -- just guessing, as I don't belong, myself.

I only have ONE guess: Department of Defense Financial Management. Winner gets half of Rich's next paycheck.
