Too many times, we get caught up in what we don't like in others. I am far too susceptible to this. Well, this is what I appreciate about others here.

    People I appreciate and why:

John Bear – Exceptional knowledge of this field. The leader, who gives far more than he could ever hope to receive.
Russ Blahetka – Living the example by doing his doctorate at Sarasota.
Steve Levicoff – Passionate defense of his beliefs and willingness to get at the truth. Great resource for information about TESC, Vermont College, and The Union.
Tom Head – Solid contributions in both DL and religion.
Tom Nixon – Excellent insights into the field of education
Russell Morris – Caring, giving approach to communication.
Gus Sainz – Dogged determination to get at the real story behind all the bull.
Bill Dayson – Amazing analytical mind in a wide range of fields
Bill Huffman – Steady, helpful contributor to all.
Bruce – Terrific legal/law enforcement insights.
    Eli – Thorough on Touro.
Paul Coverstone – Valuable insights into Capella.
Kristin – Did yeoman’s labor with About.com; she’s missed tremendously
Nicole – Our best (but not only!) resource into CSUDH’s external humanities program.
Peter French – Illuminating insights into the world of Aussie higher ed.
Neil Hynde – For his Middle Eastern perspective and insights into the world of unaccredited schools.
Jonathan Liu – For maintaining a valuable resource to all interested in DL, and keeping us up to date on the latest developments in DL MBA programs.
Jason Vorderstrasse – For his ear to the ground on what’s happening in higher ed.
Chip – The man with the plan who keeps all the juggler’s balls in the air.
Gert – Is there some breaking news related to DL that he doesn’t know about?
Bill Highsmith – For his friendly, helpful contributions.
Nosborne – For his insightful perspectives on legal education.
Andy Borchers – For his outstanding contributions regarding the issues around for-profit schools, and for his valuable insights regarding Nova Southeastern.
David Yamada – A terrific blend of legal and DL knowledge and insight.
George Brown – He really took one for the team while trying to make a difference. (He did, and does.)
Lawrie Miller – For providing outstanding information about earning credits and degrees by testing. I doubt any of us knows that scene better than he.
    Tracy Gies – Go Army!
Wes Cox – For sharing with us his personal travails in DL, and sticking to his guns about CCU. He’ll be a terrific source of information about that much-talked-about school.
North – All around solid dude on the board.
John Wetsch – For his insights into Excelsior and the sharing of his own DL experiences.

If I’ve missed anyone, I’m sorry. I just wanted get past the negativity and share what I really appreciate in others. My goal is to never again react to a negative comment, nor direct one at anyone.

    Rich,

    What a stand up guy...
Thanks, that was awesome. I am glad that you said that.

Thanks, Rich; I appreciate it. I would add...

Rich Douglas: An honest, compassionate authority in distance learning to whom I have consistently been unfair. (I'll try to work on that.)

    Cheers,

Rich: I know we have not agreed on a lot, but I think this is a really outreaching thing to do. I don't know if you are or were an officer (I expect so), but you are a gentleman.

Bravo! (meaning in the true sense...very brave)

Aw, what the heck, I'll join the lovefest.

Rich...you've consistently been one of the most knowledgable, helpful participants both here and on the old a.e.d. newsgroup. The way you handled yourself when MIGS started to self-destruct displayed a level of class that we should all hope to attain.

Well! What more is there to say?

Rich, I think it was a former Supreme Court Justice that once said something like, in a free society, the only appropriate response to speech you disagree with is more speech. To your credit, you exemplify that sentiment. ;)

And Tom, and the rest who haven't 'killfiled' me, I make the same statement.

Being Irish, and being on email, I fight and I don't usually give up, and only get pissed off when someone I have gone out on limb for, forgets, but that is life.

Unfortunately, the combination of genetics and communication medium result in less than acceptable decorum at times, and a lack of circumspection.

So Rich, we WILL have the beer sometime mate, but not when we graduate together at MIGS :D

...and to the others I have 'upset' in my career here, I do follow Rich's admirable lead, and won't go out to antagonise, or defend myself or my qualifications...

... bit like the feeling I had the day I gave up the booze and smokes 7 years ago

    Seeya mates,

    Peter French

Rich, thanks for including me, and sorry for missing this post five years ago.

I wonder how many people in this long list are still around this board.

Great list, and it reminds me the old A.E.D. days.

Could you compile a list of who you might add now, six years later?
