I'm fairly confident that you've seen the video already. How do I know? We're rapidly approaching the point that it's statistically improbable than any humanoid intelligent life form this side of the universe (or multiverse or matrix or whatever) hasn't seen it. The worst part about it is that not only did you see it. You liked it. Admit it. And you don't care that the video is almost a year old (the equivalent of 9 internet eternities). You want to watch it again. Now.

    :eek13: I still don't get it.

    Is it this song?

"'Kill those f---ing Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives" - Psy, 2004....oh no different one.

Catchy tune. He did a performance at the Grammy's with Hammer that was pretty awesome.

How could I escape it? I've never watched it on a computer, but watching TV news (another complete time-waster) I've seen segments of it in the 'entertainment' section. I have reservations about its entertainment value, but if even the Kardashians get to be on the same segment... well so be it. I've seen enough to know who Psy is, and where/what Gangnam is -- an upscale district of Seoul.

I won't watch it on 'Tube because I LIKE music. In fact, I even know a bit about music -- and this ain't it! It is like posting on the Internet -- a fairly harmless, benign waste of time. This guy may be short on talent -- but he's got HUGE luck!

You still "don't get it?" Well, maybe there's just not much to "get."

I've only watched the video once after hearing about it on the news. The song is awful, and he's not attractive. Maybe I would want to watch it again if he were at least good looking or could dance.

Well, even you or I could do OK with Hammer's help! Whatever it takes, I guess! Interesting article on Hammer as a tech-geek and investor, here. MC Hammer Is Just Another Tech Geek | MIT Technology Review

The site has an interesting video of Hammer lecturing at Stanford in 2010 on the role of social media in marketing. Something he knows quite a bit about, as a guy with 2 million Twitter followers!

You know what's even better? The parodies of it!

He is an anti american hate monger so I won't watch him.

I won't listen to him either -- because I think his "music" sucks. You are not alone in perceiving him as a hate-monger. It all goes back, apparently, to four lines in one 2004 performance.

A bit strange Psy would not know better than to go on a vehement anti-American rant, since he spent some time studying in the US. Not only is he not very talented - it seems he's not at all intelligent, to pull a stunt like that rant. While he was in the US, he dropped out of Boston University, spent most of his remaining money on musical equipment and enrolled at Berklee, dropping out there, as well. Some say President Obama shouldn't have attended one of Psy's recent performances, because of this 2004 rant.

Her's a Washington Post article that might shed some light on it. It doesn't excuse anything or make his action any more justified or palatable. I guess there's no way on earth to do that.

Controversy over Psy’s anti-American lyrics might be based on shoddy translation

Awfully reductive, don't you think? Also, apparently untrue PSY apologizes for viral anti-American lyrics - CNN.com.

There is no doubt that the lyrics go way overboard. There is also no doubt that there are a minority of US Soldiers that have acted in ways equally as evil as the enemy. Some have been procecuted. Some have gotten away with it. Some of it has made it to YouTube. It's hard to watch. It's a harsh reality that I would hope you are as angry about as Psy is.

Is he sincere in his apology? Is he just trying to prevent financial bleeding? I don't know. It's irrelevant anyway. If I can't forgive somebody for something said eight years ago, something publicly apologized for, something that has not been repeated since, then "hate" is a word that I can only hypocritically apply to him.

1.6 billion views? Are you sure that that's not just one person viewing it 1.6 billion times?

Not me, Ted. The only thing I've viewed over a billion times is this board!

As far as Psy's past (2004) actions, I think he is/was pretty small potatoes as a hater - if he can still be called one at all. Certainly a big-D Doofus, though. Majorly stupid!

I'm reminded of something (I think) Senator Al Franken wrote, a few years back. He commented that fifty years after the Korean War, there were still about 38,000 U.S. service members on duty in South Korea. 38,000 was also approximately the number of brave Americans, who had given their lives in that war.

I guess Psy is forgetting this. Don't think he'd like it if the US offered to withdraw its forces! Maybe Psy can do a few performances in North Korea. Maybe Kim Jong-Un would like him and want to keep him around forever.

Maybe he can make a new video there - "Pyongyang Style."
