I can understand the issue. If the drawing was supposed to be all original work and the little girl traced the drawing, she did violate the rules of the contest. Too bad the judges were not smart enough to take this action before granting her the award.

Funny, but a false equivalence. The child didn't trace another person's artwork, but an unpublished photograph (not against the rules) and even then, it was just the outlines of the figures whereas she still had to meticulously paint every detail.
