I'm super excited. I had my first article published last week. I also presented last week at WASC ARC (Academic Resource Conference) in San Diego. These are two huge milestones for me. All this while being an online student, completing my undergrad. Now, I can boost up my CV.
Congratulations. That is a big milestone. I still remember my first publication. I was so proud. I bought several copies of the journal to give to my family. It does make a difference on your CV. I have had several of my supervisors comment on my various publications and conference presentations.
Congratulations! I think that being published is not only a great compliment, but also demonstration of professionalism. I would encourage those who are doing online or distance learning degrees to go the publication route, particularly in the post graduate arena. It brings strength to your degree's standing and your personal accomplishment. By presenting in a conference, you have presented to your peers and answered that criticism often leveled at online learners. The publication of your paper consolidates this achievement. The conference also allows you to network with co-professionals. Attendees at conferences are professionals, not beginning students, so it is more of a stringent test than a student classroom. This is very doable for midcareer people who are doing online degrees because of their experience in the workforce, provided the degree is consistent with their background.
Congratulations, DxD=D^2! I agree with ebbwvale. This is a nice accomplishment, and a sign of true professionalism and scholarship. Keep it up. Roscoe
Congrats! Is this the article? Online and Traditional Education Through the Eyes of an Undergrad - Higher Education
Great article! I also think Vanguard is a great university, met some really wonderful students who are attending there.
