Interestingly, the two schools cited in the article are quite different. Northwood is RA, campus-based, and located in Michigan. Its activities are directed towards working adults. Cardean is accredited by the DETC, is online, and is located in the "aether." (Or Denver, it seems. ;)

The "aether" was used to explain the propagation of light throughout the universe. It was necessary to theories explaining light, motion, and time. Albert Einstein freed us from the need for an aether, but required us to re-think our concept of absolute time.

Our first major marketing breakthrough with the Heriot-Watt distance MBA was when General Motors approved it, as part of their contract with United Auto Workers to pay for education. We got quite a few UAW/GM students -- and were endlessly frustrated because we weren't allowed to communicate directly with UAW members to tell them of this opportunity. The contract we signed said, "...cannot communicate in writing..." We thought about letters with nothing but little stick figures, but settled on running some radio spots in Lansing, Flint, and Detroit, until GM decided we couldn't do that either. In other words, yes we'll pay for the program, but we'll do everything we can to keep you from finding out about it.

John Bear, especially annoyed with GM just now,
since they took back the wonderful EV-1 electric
car we've been leasing for four years; they
no long support them, because "no one wants them,"
they say. On the other hand, in six months,
Ford will begin importing an all-electric car
from Norway. Win some, lose some

    The aether bunny

I will undoubtedly regret asking this, but wasn't it Sir James Maxwell and his wave equations that freed us from the aether?

how would they handle a "recall"

How would Ford and GM handle a problem in their schools. Would they issue a product recall? You would have to have the bad information replaced with the good information installed.
I tihink Arthur D. Little was one of the earlier companies to have their own in house college level training programs. They found it cheaper than sending people out of the company.
I wonder if Ford and GM are doing this just because it is cheaper? or is the information pretty specialized?
    all the best!
