Hello, I'm looking for one credit graduate level courses for the spring and summer. Any great ideas? They can be offered in business or liberal studies. I've been searching and haven't come up with much. Hille
The only one unit classes I have seen, undergrad and grad as well, have been either PE activity classes or independent study courses, which can often be taken for somewhere between 1 and 4 units. Also labs are often one unit. I think I have seen independent study units available DL--perhaps at Fort Hayes State University.
darnest questions Hillie--you come up with the darnest questions!!! You might have some luck with colleges which do teacher re-certification credits. Sometimes certain refresher courses are 1 creditors. Though I have not seen any online. Champlain College in Burlington Vt does have some computer applications courses which are on-line and one credit. They range from database management (1 credit) to spreadsheets (1 credit). (file management, word processing, dreamweaver-webdesign). The summer catalog lists 5 all together. I don't recall any one creditors from the standard dl colleges. All the courses I saw at Capella are 3 or 4 semester credits. The last time I looked at Nova, I think all the courses were multiple credits. I hope this is helpful! All the best!
A quick search on TeleCampus Online Course Directory came up with 67 at a cost of under $100 (made assumption that low cost = low credit level). Topics inluded: SEMINAR IN HUMAN ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES From : East Carolina University DIETARY GUIDELINES 2000 From : East Carolina University and LEARNING ONLINE From : University of Calgary. Faculty of Continuing Education
Really short residency I've been looking at www.gtusummersession.org It's mostly religion and theology (my interest), but they also have writing, dance, and film classes. Everything is 4 hours per day for 5 days and is worth 1.5 semester hours. Pat W.
suny system Just for giggles I did a search of the www.suny.edu system. I went with "on-line" courses and narrowed the field to 1 credit classes. Then sorted down to those which might be graduate level. I found a couple possibilities. This first one sure looks like a winner Selected Topics in Health: Alcohol and substance abuse program readings. 1 credit. Brockport/University College upperdivision/graduate credit. This second one is Seminar in Community Human Services: 1 credit; Empire State College; adv level in human services. probably just misses being grad. level. University of Vermont also has a one credit, web based class which is a Senior standing, but not graduate level class. darn it. It might be possible to take it as an independent study at the graduate level. Good luck!
